The first Milky Way

Hello! Hope July starts with success and happiness for all of us. Tonight I'd like to share my first Milky Way photo!!!

Taken with my trusty Lumix G2 and the reliable Lumix 25mm 1.7 lens in Long Point, Ontario.

It was a quiet and cool night, Ofelia was telling us a funny story while we enjoyed the best Poutine in Norfolk, courtesy on @the_chip_ship of course...

Darkness engulfed us and the stars started to brighten our night. It was peaceful, ethereal and magical.... I was in my happy place, surrounded by love, delicious food and bathed in light created billions of years ago...

I was able that night to capture a memory, an instant that intertwines today and before telling stories that happened long before us...

I always feel warmth watching this image, I hope you enjoy it too...

Long before us

Hello World!!! oh wow, this is the first post that we are publishing in social media. Why? Because we think it’s time. Ofelia and I have been crafting this space for some time and maybe, just maybe, we are ready to share it with the world.

It is nerve racking, but I think every first step on a journey is, and I hope you come along with us on this journey and enjoy the work we do. Thank you for coming along.

The image that I’m sharing with this post is one of the first night photos I took 10 years ago with my trusty Lumix G2 camera. I was on the Richmond Hill David Dunlap observatory watching a planetary alignment between the Moon, Mars and Saturn if I remember well. The photo is not technically great but tells a story that was written long before us. Ten years later and I am grateful of what I saw that night, it allowed me to spend the night connected with the stars, something I always loved and something I get now to share with my daughter Ofelia. We've had many adventures together after this one.

Expect many photos of all kind (astro, nature, street, portrait, etc), updates on our adventures and us having fun while doing our best. We will continue to learn and improve as we go along. Hopefully we will share with you something that is meaningful, entertaining and maybe something that makes your day a special one.

Long Before Us goes live today!!!!

It is February 1st, 2022 and today is the day we are opening our world and our creations to you. It is at times scary but we are braving the unknown, uncharted territories and hope you’ll enjoy our work.

Our launch day coincides with the 70th trip around the Sun of my Dad and Ofelia’s Grandpa, a brave man who always rises up to the occasion and has your back when you needed it the most. Happy 70th!!!!

On a personal note, I hope as Ofelia’s Dad, I always have her back and make her proud.

A photo before the storm

I took this photo with my trusty Lumix G2 outside of my workplace. It was a windy day and the wind was so strong that the windows started making cracking sounds…

I was curious and looked outside and I saw the beautiful cloud formations… went outside quickly and snapped this beautiful photo, I was a bit hesitant, thought it wasn’t good enough but my friend Ken at work saw the photo and printed it for me as a gift… told me to keep taking photos and to believe in myself.

I can’t thank him enough, it is always in my home as a reminder that you should believe in yourself…
